Forwarding A Claim

 Short Version:

  1. Select the Claim: Choose the claim you want to forward.

  2. Forwarding Tab: Click the blue tab labeled "Forwarding."

  3. Forwarding Instructions: Select the forwarding instructions for the attorney.

  4. Unbonded or Bonded: Click the "Unbonded" or "Bonded" link to forward the claim.

The attorney will receive an email with a website link, user ID, and password to access the attorney portal. There, the attorney can review the claim and any attached documentation and decide whether to accept or reject it.

Long Version:

Administration/Agency Side:

  1. Manage Attorneys: Ensure the attorney has working zip codes entered under "Manage Attorneys".
    The debtor zip code determines what attorneys will be displayed.

  2. Forward a Claim:
    • View the claim.
    • Click the blue tab labeled "Forwarding."
    • Click the red link labeled "Forward."

  3. Instructions Menu:
    • Select an instruction from the dropdown menu (e.g., "Forwarding Claim Instructions"). This ensures the attorney receives the necessary information. These instructions are customizable.

  4. Select Attorney:
    • Click the "Unbonded" or "Bonded" link next to the attorney's name.
    • Unbonded means the claim is not insured with any attorney organization.
    • Bonded means the claim is insured by an organization. That orgianization will receive an email notice to bond the claim.

The claim is then emailed to the attorney, with all the details.

Attorney Side:

  1. Receives Email Notice: The attorney gets an email with portal access and claim information.
     
  2.  Portal Access: The attorney logs into the portal, clicks the “New Claims” link, and reviews the claim and any attached documentation.

  3. Accept or Reject:
    • The attorney clicks the “Accept” or “Reject” claim button.
    • If rejecting, they provide a reason on the next screen.
    • If accepting, the claim is added to the attorney’s “Manage Claims” list.

The “Manage Claims” link allows the attorney to view all forwarded claims, update claim information, attach documentation, and communicate with the administrator.
