Related Claims: Part 2 > Making a Payment

 In part 1 of Related Claims, you learned that you could connect claims in order to work them more effectively.  In part 2 you will learn how to split a payment between multiple related claims.

Multiple claims can be connected to each other with a grand total displayed.  The Related tab displays a list of the related claims, there could potentially be a few.  Now you want to post a payment and you want to split the payment between 3 claims.  A payment of $100.00 has been received.  The Payment screen on a claim that is related will also display an option to, Apply Payment to Related Claims: yes or no …select yes if you are splitting the payment, select no if you are not.  If yes, you would enter the split amount into each claim manually.  One claim will have $33.34 posted, two claims will have $33.33 posted.

Understanding “Level of Access” for Attachments and Notes

  What is "Level of Access"? "Level of Access" refers to the administrator's ability to control which users can view specific documents or notes that are attached or entered into the claim within our system. Four Levels of Access for Attachments: 1.      All: Visible to anyone with access to the system and working on claims. 2.      Self: Displayed only for the user who attached the document. 3.      Fwd Attorney: Accessible to all admins and attorneys. 4.      Internal File: Viewable by all in-house users. Setting Access for Attachments: Admins or collectors can choose "All," "Internal File," or "Fwd Attorney" when attaching a document, based on who needs to see it.   There are two types of debt, commercial and consumer, and then there are many categories; construction, real estate, aviation, medical, student loans...the list is long. Collecting consumer medical debt can be messy. There could potentially be multiple doctor visits depending on the type of medicine. Dermatology, for example, is a medical field that would require multiple trips to the doctor’s office. Let us set up a scenario with this type of debt collection.
